I play hide-n-seek with them....I let them run off to hide while I count to 10 (very, very, very s l o w l y....see, this is the beginning of the break) and then I announce very loudly "Ready or not, here I come....". Then I grab myself a little snack and find a comfy place to sit down....
Watch this short video, which demonstrates MY version of hide-n-seek....

Your version of hide & seek ROCKS! Great parenting tip - I'm gonna try that one while I try to scarf down the rest of my Cadbury Eggs! LOL
hahahahaha I LOVE IT!
Best version of hide and seek I've ever seen. I may just use that myself. LOL
omgosh, I used to do something very similar! I'd sit in a chair and just call out the places where I would "search" for her and finally, she'd come running out and "surprise" me.
Of course, this was a little harder to do when she's lie flat on the floor in front of me and hide.
"Mommy... I'm hiding in the bathroom..." If you'd gone in and found him potty-trained I think I would have died!
This is so stinkin' funny! And I thought I was the only one that did this with ONE child!
That is hilarious! I tried this with my nephew recently, but it just didn't work so well.
Too funny. This wouldn't work on my daughter at all, but there is just one of her...I may try it anyway!
You should switch this around and find a really, really good place to hide for a while with your feet up--or would that be leaving your kids unsupervised? :) Very cute!
Ah, those were the days.
Now they hide from me on purpose. Probably to go through all those Playboys.
LMBO! We play hide and seek too but I never thought of using it for a mommy break! Thanks for the tip!
Good Luck on Spring Break! We already had ours and I conveniently scheduled surgery for that week so hubby had to stay home to help.. :P
I LOVE IT! I need to do this everyday! Every mom needs a break! Happy Monday!
ROFL!!!!! I just lost it when you said "I have no idea where you are, it's going to take me forever to find you!". Ahahaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!
You're brilliant! Still laughing here.
LOL! I can't wait until my little Princess is old enough to try this trick. ;)
Oh you crack me up every day. I am SO trying this little bit of brilliance.
LOL! So funny! Gonna have to try that one! But, I think the little ones wouldn't be too interested. Darn, might have to wait a couple years until they are on board.
Helene, thanks for your comment on my blog! I'm glad I could give you a much needed laugh.
I will be back!
LOL! I love how you showed your cobwebs! I must say, your place looks really good for having 4 kids!
That was sooo funny! I will definitely have to try this with the boys. I have a feeling though that it would always end up with me finding them in the bathroom too.
Too funny-I should try that. My lcuk though, she'd run outside and get lost and then Id be wanted for bad parenting! Thanks for the votes for my card-you are too kind!
How hilarious!!! Love seeing the kiddos too.
Funny :)
Stopping by from SITS to say hello!
Too funny! Love it!
That's too funny .. That's how I play with my kids too but I call it "Hide and I'll find you later" LOL.
I'm here at work LMBO. You deserve a break. Next time they play hide and seek, you should call me and we can catch up. ;)
LOL
You are hunting with such aggressiveness!
What a FABULOUS idea! I love it.
Sweet! What a great idea. Next are we going to see where YOU hide and make the kids try to find you? Lol! And now I want chips...
Mommys deserve occasional breaks too. :)
I amm totally putting that one on file for when my kids are old enough to play hide and seek:)
Viactiv chews that low in your house? I would have already had to call poison control over that. Of course I had a child who sucked the inside gel out of an ice pack one time, so...
You're a genius, an evil genius. I love the unmatched enthusiasm in your voice. lol.
Wow! Your blog looks great--and 240 followers??!! Wow again! You turned into a rock star while I was away!
Just finished reading 20 of your posts in Google Reader--really proud of you, Helene. Your writing just keeps getting better and better. I was touched by your honesty in the piece about your husband and you passing each other on the stairs, horrified by the adoption "prank" your parents pulled (I've got a dad with a mean streak, but to have BOTH parents act like that . . . sorry, man), and—as usual—delighted with your funny stories about the kids.
Congrats on all your success; your blog is heading places!
This is really funny! Love it.
I love your videos...I want more!!! Ok, so that totally sounded like one of your kids, huh? ooops. Sorry Helene!
No really I loved this and might just try it with Ryan now that he is into hide-n-go seek. Of course, Kara can't hide yet but she is busy trying to walk so I have her gated up in the "pit"...I will blog about this eventually! ;)
Hope you have a great week! :)
