I was going through Garrett and Landon's closet the other day, gathering things for a garage sale when I came across my wedding veil that had been buried in the very back of the closet. Bella happened to be in the room with me at the time. I got a little sentimental as I opened the box and lifted the veil out.
After my "moment of reflection", we went into her and Cole's room to go through their closet. This is part of our conversation:
Me: So do you think you'll wear my wedding dress and veil when you get married?
Bella: I like your dress but I'm not sure about the veil. Won't I look so cute in your dress?
Me: Of course you will. You'll be a beautiful bride someday. But promise me that no matter where you're living at the time with your family, whether you're just 5 minutes away or you live halfway across the country, that we'll still talk on the phone every single day.
Bella: Mooooommmmyyyyy....come on.
Me: I realize this is a huge thing for me to ask of you and you're only 4 years old so you can't possibly understand how important this is to me but you'll understand someday. So just promise me that I can call you every single day, just to say hello.
Bella: Okay, you can call me........but I might not answer the phone.
Talk about a dagger to my heart!!! How is it that she still doesn't know how to wipe her own butt, yet she's already aware of how to screen phone calls?

Haha. She already understands.
Very cute it is amazing what caller idea hs done for us!
Oh my that is so funny. She has her mommy's witty personality. I just love it. Oh btw I wore my mom's wedding dress so its always a possiblity.
Oh my gosh...kids are so funny!!!!!!!!!
Kids know how to hit you where it hurts. LOL. My 3 year old just loves to tell me that she doesn't love me anymore when she is mad at me!
That is funny! Yeah, my son will okay after I just told him that I love him! Kids...
Why were you asking her permission? I fully intend to call my children every day regardless of how they feel about it!
Of course I also go into that knowing that they will undoubtedly screen my calls, as I screen my parents' calls, and my parents screen my grandparents' calls....parents are why caller ID was invented!
So cute!
My mom called me the other day while I was trying to take a nap. I got so annoyed that she just kept going on and on and on. After I hung up, I thought about how lucky I am that my mom cares enough to call me at random like that and that she misses me. And that I still have her around when I need/want her.
What, like she's never seen YOU do it?
haha, thanks for the laugh:)
*LOL* and in the next breath she's swearing that she'll love you always and will never leave you because of course you are gonna have to look after the grandbabies!!
PHew.. I was a little worried when I read the post title and then the first line about your veil... I thought for sure it was gonna be a tale of 4 children and mommy's veil is no more... *g*
Ouch! What is it about little girls and attitude?!?
One day when my daughter (now 2 1/2) was 12 months old, I picked her up and touched her hair. She gave me THE nastiest look- like she was insulted that I touched her hair. I had to put her down and leave the room because I was upset that my sweet little girl was suddenly not so sweet.
Girls just know how to push our buttons. The attitude seems to come very early with them.
Isn't amazing how they know how to push our buttons just right!! OUCH!! I always get sentimental when I find old pictures and such-the kids don't quite get it yet!
Don't for get to have the crew creating some masterpieces for the art contest!!
That is priceless. Gotta love it. I would love to know when your garage sale is, since I am assuming you don't live to far from me and probably have mathcing boy clothes. Hehehe :-)
I was kind of tearing up until I read that she might not pick up! Girls.
I am cracking up! Kids are so truthful aren't they? They say the things that we do. It just sounds so bad when it comes out of their little mouths the things that I do and say all the time!
LOL, she's adorable. I have the same dagger, in that I do not look forward to the day when they aren't right here pestering and loving me.
Come on, do you call your mother every single day?
I read a few of your comments LOL, the one above me said..Come on, do you call your mom every day?!
The answer to that question is YES! LOL. maybe 10 times a day. I have a better relationship now then I ever did. Sometimes children can be the cruelest little buggers around. Yet SO LOVING and caring. It's a stage. Nothing more. You are a WONDERFUL mom! Never feel less. BECAUSE YOUR FLIPPEN AWESOME!
ROTFL! Mama didn't raise no liar!
She has her mother's whit!
love that little girl!
:)
Don't worry, I probably would have said the same thing when I was 4 years old. Now if you ask my mom she would say quit calling me soooo much!
I agree. That is why I am not letting mine grow up. It's simple, really.
Oh Helene, this is so sweet. It really touched my heart.
Kids can be honest when we dont want them to be

Sorry to tell you, they don't call you every day. It's hard when they grow up!Sounds like Bella got the teenage girl bit down already!

Well, I only call my mom about 3 times a week. I think... maybe it IS every day!
