Friday Photo Flashback....

Alicia at More Than Words is hosting this fun weekly meme! The idea is to dig out those old photo albums (before the days of digital cameras!!) and find a picture to scan and share.....

So I stumbled my way through our coat closet, where I was pretty sure I had stuffed away all my old photo albums. Sure enough, there they were....all crammed into a box...covered in dust. Before I knew it, I was caught up in looking at all these old pictures....reminiscing of days gone by.

This is the picture that I decided to share this week....

Yeah, it's a silly picture but everytime I see it, it brings back such fun memories of one of the best experiences of my life. Two words = College....Dorms

This was back in September 1988 (the pic is kinda faded) and it was my first year in college, away from home. I lived in one of the dorms on campus.....a co-ed dorm, I might add. Although I lived on the 2nd floor, which was the only floor that was all women and we referred to it as "The Nunnery", though we were all a far cry from how nuns should behave.

On the night this particular picture was taken (I'm in the middle....my friend Kristine is on the left and my friend Jen is on the right), it was the first week of college....the first time all of us had lived away from home. We were all hanging out in one of our rooms one night when two of our guy friends busted into the room and convinced us to go downstairs to the pool. At least, I think that's what happened....maybe they grabbed us and carried us down there....my memory is somewhat foggy. I might have had a little bit of alcohol in my system that night.

Anyway, next thing I know they threw the 3 of us into the pool....with our clothes on, completely unexpected. After we went back up to our rooms, I remember someone taking this picture....the 3 of us were freezing but we could not stop laughing. Welcome to college....welcome to life in the dorms....it was seriously one of the best times of my life.

One of my blogging buddies, Onna at Toddler Craft, will be hosting a super fun art contest with all kinds of prizes! Go visit her blog for details....

Oh my gosh..I love that picture! You're so pretty!!! I can imagine all the fun you had in your college years! I'm sure back then, you would never have guessed that 15+ years later you would have two sets of twins!!

I'm so glad you joined in, Helene!! Isn't it so fun to look through all the pictures again?

That's a cool picture. My friend lived in on a hall back in the late 80s and we called it the nunnery too! Was your mascot the gauchos? Anyhoo...that's a great story and a great picture...wow twins...two sets...I know you hear it...and I HATE it when folks tell me this but..."I bet you have your hands full." I just couldn't resist.
Blessings!

I could get lost looking through old photos! It's so fun to remember when. . .
You look like you all were having such a great time. I think college days are some of the best memories that I have - of course it doesn't hurt that that is when I met my hubs! ;)

How fun...I love dorm life stories. I went to a commuter school and never did any of that stuff, so I live vicariously through other's stories. You looked like you were having so much fun.

You don't even look the slightest bit uncomfortable or inebriated. Sounds like a good time, a long way from dirty butts and temper tantrums. Lucky you though, you've barely changed. ;)

Thanks, Helene, for following me. You've given me the opportunity to visit your amazing site and I'm sure I will continue to do so. LOVE the name!!!
Your comments re rotavirus at preschool help me realize I'm not crazy...Abby is already enrolled in another preschool for Sept. so I don't careabout "retaliation".
What I can't understand is why so many more parents (all of them, maybe?) aren't up in arms. This is such a crazy area (south jersey)...parents THINK they know it all, but when a significant issue arises, well, er,...
Anyway, thanks again!

Oh, and any more suggestions I'd love to hear from you! P.S. I went through IVF, too.

College!
I was there too once. I'm talking about my first college, not the one I graduated from. I hung out with the tormented, arty crowd that drove around with a car full of *ahem* smoke(as Bill Clinton once said, "I smoked but I did not inhale"). Heehee. We were all nuts. Sometimes I wish I could go back there for just one day and hug them all just one more time. I used to wear an electric blue wig to class back then. I was eclectic and I meant it. I'm still eclectic and I still mean it.

Oh my goodness, I need a copy of that picture! I forgot about that day, it was soooo much fun. I thought we were trying to throw someone else in the pool, and they ended up throwing us in too. Or was that another time???? I don't think we were tipsy, but who knows, we could have had a bunch of sugar!

Thanks for the memory....Post it on FB....
