To Peanut.....with love...

Today as I was shooting a video of you, you lost your first tooth. There we were preparing to do a video of our lovely new living room with its fresh paint and beautiful wood floors...when all of a sudden, your tooth fell out.

It was such an exciting milestone...and I'm sorry that I rained on your parade with my incoherent sobbing. I want you to know they were happy tears....happy that my baby girl is growing up. But also a little sad that it's happening so darn quickly. I can't help it....you're growing up right before my very eyes.

I promise you that I will not shed any tears when we go shopping for your first training bra....or when you enter "womanhood"....or when you go off to college. Okay, okay....perhaps "promise" is too strong of a word. Who are we kidding? I'll be sobbing just as hard as I was today....snot dripping down my face, mascara smeared under my eyes, the works...

But I will certainly make my best attempt to hold back the tears. Hey, I said I would TRY...that's the best I can do.

* On a side note, our kitchen floor doesn't normally look like that. We had just removed the linoleum and we were waiting a few days to put down the wood flooring.

* On another side note, Garrett....I hope your sister will forgive you one day. I know, as a male, you are naturally attracted to the television. I know you can't help it. But you could have at least faked your excitement for a minute or two. You are your father's child...without a doubt.

You had me in tears! I remember those times with the older boys.. the crying.. when I realized my babies had grown into men. I fell apart. I still fall apart at times.

Maybe that's why I baby Caleb so much. 15 and 12 years apart is a huge difference.

BELLA, I hope the Tooth Fairy brings you your gift and kisses your sweet cheeks.

Awww Helene. I still have tears in my eyes. I LOVED THIS VIDEO and to have caught it on tape! *grin. How lucky you are!

How adorable! That is so precious that you caught that on tape. My 3 yr old son wants me to keep playing the video over for him to watch. Just adorable!

And now, you get introduced to the joys of being a tooth fairy. The banged shins as you crawl through messy rooms in the middle of the night, the sprained ankles from when you step on something that moves in the dark, the teeth you can't find so you leave the money anyway and the kid expects you to do it again the next day, the crying when you forget.

While you're brooding over the endless possibilities for frustration, I suggest you pick up a copy of Terry Pratchett's "Hogfather." You'll never look at tooth fairies the same way again.

That was darling! It's SO hard to see them grow up, isn't it?

And my isn't that a lovely signature and so forth at the end of the post! ;)

So glad you got it all figured out!

What a special reminder of Bella's milestone. I have to say you talk very well while crying. I, on the other hand get a very high pitched voice that sounds like a warped record. Way to go Mom, super cute video!

I don't even know you (well I kinda know you through our blogs BUT...) OR your beautiful family but I am sitting here wiping TEARS from my eyes as I chuckle at this post!! Congrats Bella!! She was so cute and excited!

Helene- I am going to be the SAME way when my little ones lose a tooth so don't feel like a silly mama at all. I just hope I am able to get the big moment on tape too!!

Have a GREAT weekend!!! :)

I found your blog through a friend of a friend and have been following you ever since. How magical and amazing that you caught this milestone on video.

My not quite 5 yr old lost his first 2 teeth less than a week apart. I cried like a big baby too.

It's hard to watch them growing up when it seems like just yesterday they were completely dependant on Mommy for everything.

I love your blog! It's so colorful and fun!

I also dreamed of having twins. But after having my daughter, I said to myself, I'm glad she's just one. With her energy, it's like taking care of two already!!! :))

GOD bless your cute twins!!!

That is so lovely. And extra special to have it on video. It brought back memories for me of when my son lost his first tooth and makes me think of the day this will happen with the twins. Makes me teary. Don't forgot to record it in the baby book. Michelle

That is so precious!! Thanks for the comment on my blog... yes my husband can say sweet things but he has NO filter for the rude things either sometimes! Nothing offends him, and he has a hard time realizing other people do take offense to things!!

Awww! Bless you - I could hear you sniffing! I am the same way! Why do they have to grow up so fast?!?! So cool that you got it on video. You almost had me in tears!

And you definitely had me laughing this morning with your comment on if I had triplets - Um, what are you trying to do, jinx me!

Yay! What an exciting event!! First tooth, what a big girl you've got on your hands :).

I bet she'll look back and be touched that you cared enough to get emotional about the milestone. SO sweeeet!!!! :)

I love the editing...I would totally do that if I knew how. ;) I'd also edit out the laundry on my couch. ;) Thanks for the visit!!

How sweet that you actually caught it on video!!! My hubby got my older daughter on video the first time she ever rolled over - which was great because I wasn't even home when it happened! If you cry over lost teeth, I'm trying to imagine what state you'll be in on the first day of kindergarten. Ok, try not to think about it!

that is absolutely beautiful and had me in tears! You really should print that puppy up and slide it in her baby book. I sat her staring and my own nine month old and holding back the tears that she isn't my newborn anymore. Sigh. Where does the time go.

Wow, what a special video! :D
My son was also 4 when he lost his first tooth. He doesn't like changes much, so he was moody. Especially since he lost it on the school bus, while showing the bus monitor that his tooth is shaking and it fell on the steps and got lost. :(
His second tooth (less than a month later! Tough luck on the 6 months you want ;)) was knocked out when he let his little brother shake it. Great. He was in tears. I hope my son's 3rd one will be as happy and exciting as Bella's first!

omgosh, that was just the sweetest thing! I can't believe you captured that on camera!

And yes, you willcry at all those other milestones ... it's written in our contracts when we sign up to be moms.

That was so sweet! I'm about to cry too! And I can't believe you caught it on video! You rock!

I figure that if the children are alive when my husband gets home at the end of the day, I've done my job.
