Life is never dull, that's for sure...

1) I cannot even begin to imagine how a child can sleep like this....

....and not wake up with an incredible ache in his neck. This is how I found Cole on the stairs the other night, as he was waiting for Tim to come into his room and say goodnight. Apparently, he got impatient but fell asleep in the process. Poor little guy.

2) What's the point of having this....

....if we have to capture all of these ourselves, with no help from her?

Eeeeekkkkk...a mouse. The kids wanted to keep it and get rid of the cat. Trust me, I was tempted....

3) Remember when I had to have a talk with Garrett about where it's okay and not okay to color? I was pretty sure he got the message loud and clear that he was only to color on PAPER. Apparently, he still needs a lesson....

Just in case you're looking at the above 2 pictures and asking, "So what...he colored his lips blue?", the picture below, as blurry as it is, shows that he colored his teeth and his tongue blue as well....with permanent marker.

Memorable Conversation of the Day

Garrett: Mommy, can I have a banana?

Me: Sure (handing him a peeled banana)

Garrett: Mmmmm, delicious...just the way I like it.

haha OMG, Helene, those are awesome pictures! And eww at the mice...but I think I'd rather live with mice than cockroaches. lol. Lucky you! ;o)

Well, at least he's easy to please. Give him some markers and a peeled banana and he's good for the day!
The mouse?? ACKK!! I think you need a new cat. That one is NOT earning his keep!

Haha - so good to know my place is not the only crazy one!!

I was thinking this very thing the other day how CAN children sleep in such awkward positions and not wake up aching?!

Great pictures :)

Poor Garrett, seems he's quite the artist!

I don't get why you'd get rid of that cute, adorable, furry cat in favor of those little ugly mice!

Betty Manousos:cutand-dry.blogspot.com said...

Lovely picks! The mouse. I agree with DysF. You definitely need a new cat !! I enjoyed your post

I could never sleep that way on the stairs! I would be broken for a month!

I love that he colored his teeth and tongue! Great pictures!

Funny that he fell asleep on the stairs. My Paisley fell asleep on her knees while leaning against the bed. Had that been me....I'd probably need physical therapy to get my knees working again!

We replaced our dishwasher this weekend, I told my husband I was getting use to washing them again. But he found a great deal on Craigslist so I won't complain. When he pulled the old dishwasher out he said there's where the bad smell is coming from. There's a dead rat back here. Dead or alive they creep me out.

My daughter colored make up on her face once with a sharpie.

BigSis said...

I think every little boy gets ahold of the sharpie. It's a lot easier when it's not near the mouth and you can get most of it off with nail polish remover.

Never a dull moment. I so agree with that.

Oh how funny he slept on the stairs. Coloring the mouth and teeth. I wonder how long they will be blue.. Cute thoughts from the little one..

Somewhere around here, I've got a picture of my youngest sleeping with her head looking as if it's turned 180 degrees. If she didn't have such an angelic look on her sleeping face, I'd almost think she was possessed.

I would have totally kept the mouse and outed the cat...but I don't like cats, so I'm a bit biased.

I cannot believe Cole!!! Oh, didn't you know that it's cool these days to color your teeth and tongue...all the kids are doing it ; )

Buckeroomama said...

Oooh, I bet Garrett was so proud of his blue teeth, tongue, and lips until he was "discovered." It's one of those laugh-or-cry moments with the little ones...

MamaOtwins+1 said...

I was cracking up at this, especially since I came home the other day to find little man with a blue ear!

Aaaargh. Mice and permanent markers! My kids have been known to go to town on their faces with the permanent markers. Never tongue and teeth though.

I have some great shots of my daughter asleep in unusual places and position. I did a whole calendar one year, my dad loved it.

Keeping mice out of the house is the only reason I'd get a cat.

He looks so uncomfortable!

MamaHen Em said...

But your kitty is soooo cute that I think he can be forgiven for failing in his mice catching duties. I mean I think that's a cats whole purpose, really, just to look cute. I know mine doesn't do ANYTHING!

And maybe you can just call your little guy Papa Smurf for awhile...!

Eva Gallant said...

The trick is not to feed the cat...he'll catch the mouse to avoid starvation! lol

Jenny said...

That is a cute kitty! I think only 1 of ours would be the kind to catch a mouse. The other one would be bored and move on.

I can't believe Garrett colored his teeth and mouth with permanent marker! What are kids thinking sometimes?! LOL!

Samantha said...

Those pictures are so cute. I've seen Bree sleep in positions that I know if I slept like that...I wouldn't be able to MOVE. I'm going to have to have the talk about where to color and where not to color. Hence the pen marks all the way down the hallway.

Some coversations I have had with my son involve where it is OK, and where it isn't OK to color, draw, or mark...Just when I think I have gotten through...JUST PAPER...he comes up with a place I have not mentioned, so therefore it must be OK to color there...hands, clothes, face, BEHIND the door, on the heat vent to his room, on the back side of the blinds, under his drawers...what part of this is PAPER? Who knows...I will repaint on day when he is older!

I have a pic of one of my granddaughters asleep in the laundry basket. Too cute! Too bad their not always easy to please as the banana thing! "Just the way I like it"....LOL

May God bless your day!!!

blueviolet said...

Don't you wish you could fall asleep that easily? That's absolutely nuts!

Oh that mouse, ewwwwwwwwww!

Cascia said...

That is funny! My kids fall asleep in strange places like that too. When you are tired you are tired.

Conan and Ciara like to draw on themselves with marker too, but they haven't drawn in their mouth. That is something else!

Mighty M said...

So does not look comfy! I love the banana comment!! :)

shortmama said...

I wish I could fall asleep anywhere like that!! Sure would save me from being so tired during the day!

I currently have a mouse that sleeps periodically in my office printer. I don't mind sharing with him (Kinda a job share idea) but he startles me when he comes out after I am at work. Can't he get up earlier?

The have me rolling on the floor with laughter. Cannot believe he was really able to fall asleep in that uncomfortable position! And the mouse---YIKES!

Best of all, the blue marker. Priceless. Save those pictures for a slide show on his wedding day!

You complete me! I always love your posts! when i grow up I wanna be just like you!

Sara @ Domestically Challenged said...

You made my day with that post! The stair shot? Amazing!

Alicia said...

I know what you mean. My kids can fall asleep anywhere, and in any position!!

Menopausal New Mom said...

Those permanent markers need to be kept under lock and key til the kids are at least 18!

Mommyof2girlz said...

Oh my, so cute! Love the commentary with the pictures..lol Thanks for stopping by today it was great to see you again. Have a wonderful holiday season :)

The Lane Family said...

There is NEVER a dull moment in your house...I take it :) I too have wondered how are children can sleep in such random weird positions and still wake up refreshed ????

The mouse thing is just to funny and I think I would tell the cat, get to work or you will be homeless..of course maybe she has a relationship with the mice :)

Permanent Markers...they are the bane of my existence as well. It seems like whenever there is walls to be colored or themselves they can always find the permanent marker and then....ugh the mess.

Mommy Bear said...

My whole body would ache after sleeping like that. I catch Mikey Bear sleeping in weird positions sometimes. He hasn't colored his tongue and teeth yet. I am just waiting on it.

I figure that if the children are alive when my husband gets home at the end of the day, I've done my job.
