Believe it or not, there were some positive moments this week…

Okay, people…it’s been a rough week. If you’ve kept up with me this week, you already know the gist of it. I’m barely hanging by a thread here, waiting for the weekend. Oh, and no we never did find the lizard so I suppose I have to accept that Garrett ingested it, just like he said he did.

As we head into the weekend, I need to check my attitude and focus on the POSITIVE things that happened this past week….believe it or not, there were some good moments.

One of my newest favorite bloggers, The Girl Next Door Grows Up, has started a meme called “Feel Good Friday”. She provides several different writing prompts to choose from. This is the one I chose…

Just make a list. List 5 things that made you really happy this week. No matter how bad or boring you think your week was, I bet you can find 5 things.

So here are 5 things that made me happy this week:

1) My pillow….how I adore my pillow. I confess that I’ve been having a passionate love affair with it. My reasons are simple…it doesn’t talk back, it provides plenty of unconditional love and it does not expect one little thing from me (with the exception of being washed on a weekly basis).

pillow

2) Spending the afternoon making chocolate lollipops with the kiddos. I thought it would be stressful but we actually had a blast! Chocolate always turns a frown upside down, doesn’t it?

lollipops

3) We found our DREAM home and made an offer on it! It’s almost twice the size of the house we live in now and the backyard is huge. This house literally fell in our laps since we weren’t actively looking. The agent has already received a ton of offers on it so there’s a good chance we won’t get it but we had to at least try. We’ll know by next week whether or not our offer has been accepted…crossing our fingers and saying our prayers.

4) I love when I make a dinner that the entire family truly enjoys. It’s hit or miss with them since they’re all such picky eaters. I made a lasagna last night and almost half of it was gone by the time dinner was over. And Tim, who isn’t a huge fan of lasagna, said, “It was actually pretty good”.

4) It was that time of year again….parent-teacher conferences. The teacher said nothing but positive things about the kids, thankfully. She did mention that Bella is a bit of a chatterbox, though that didn’t surprise me. Academically, they’re both on target. Socially…well, that’s another story. Let me just say they are probably two of the youngest kids in their class.

5) Garrett and Landon had their first dentist appointment, which I fully expected to be a nightmare. Initially, they both fought over who was going to go first and then it was decided by the dentist that the oldest would go first….Garrett. He gave a pretty good fight but then once he was promised a balloon, he chilled out a bit. I was happy to learn that neither of them have any cavities or signs of tooth decay.

I’m a bit behind on my blog reading and commenting. I’ve also kinda lost my mojo this week, as far as humor goes. I hope to be back on my game by this weekend! Thanks for hanging in there with me!

Oh I hope you get the house! That's what happened to us. We weren't actively looking but just keeping our eyes open and it happened! If it's meant to be it will be!

OK ummyuckon the lizard but so glad it didn't make him sick. I love my pillow as well, of course mine is older then the hills. My mom made it before I was born like nearly 50 years ago of a pair of my daddy's dress whites from the Navy. I had to recover it last year cause the dress whites were geting iffy, but I put them in then ew covering as well. I love it cause it feels like a feather pillow but it's not.

Nice to know your week wasn't all bad, but that lizard episode needs 10 good things to counteract it.

Glad you could find your silver linings...sounds like a rough week. If you don't mind me asking, if you had to do it again, would you have held the kids back a year? My kids were born in August and I'm a little nervous about their level of maturity as well...just figured if you had the experience, I might as well latch on! Hope next week is better for you!

A new house? I hope you they'll take your offer! Fingers and toes crossed for you! :)

I was really hoping you'd find that lizard!!

Next week is my first parent conference ever for Lily, and I'm very curious about what the teacher will have to say.

My husband is always requesting lasagna for dinner, but I always refuse to make it. Yours looks pretty darn good!

Yea! See it wasn't such a bad week. :)

I'm sorry it's been such a stressful week for you (the lizard thing is STILL getting to me ... EWWWWWWW ... that would have put me well over the edge. Like a mile over it.)

Crossing all appendages over here that you get your dream house!

These were great! Last night I was writing resolutions (finally before the whole month is over) and one thing I included is to not complain so much about how hard everything is and try to focus more on how much I've been blessed. Of course I KNOW that but in the day to day of it it can be hard to feel that way sometimes.

I think the meal everyone ate and the good teacher conferences are GREAT things to be happy about! Good luck too on the house - we moved when our first set were 1 and we had no idea then how much we'd appreciate the space we have now!

Chocolate does make everything better! That lasagna looks SOOOO good!

YOu did have a wild week for sure. What kid of pillow do you have? I am looking for a new one mine is just not working. I have another fun carnival going on next Friday if you want to check it out. It is all about Family.. Yeah..

Have a great weekend.

I love it when I find a meal everyone eats.

Faith was chattering away yesterday without taking a breath. I said, "Who vaccinated you with a phonograph needle?"

Of course, she said, "What?"

And I realized just how far out of context that statement is for her world. (Maybe in yours??)

Shell said...

I'm so excited for you about the house! And jealous. I hope it works out for you!

I think I've blanked out this week. But, from yesterday: I was able to get a library card, even though everything I have with our address on it is from the next county over, due to a really weird glitch. I live in the county where I was trying to get my card from but addy says differently. I needed a library card! Yes, I'm a total dork and was grinning from ear to ear over this.

Good luck on the house, and congratulations on everything else!

I wish I could have spent more quality time with my pillow this morning.

Only a fellow mom of toddlers can truly appreciate your picture of the kids' plates. I'd carry that one around with me and pull it out any time I felt some one judging me or my kids . . . "Oh yeah? Well, at least MY kids eat all their dinner."

Rhaven said...

OK you must reveal how you were able to get your kids to fight over who sat in the dentist chair!!! I still have yet to make an appointment for Ashe, partly out of the fear of him running around hiding under chairs while the dentist and receptionist try to pry him loose!

TGIF!!!

Good luck with the house - I hope you get it!!

Love that you truly appreciate and love your pillow. Now, your bed? Your bed looked a little on the hard core side...might want to try something softer. ;=)

I LOVE that you do cooking/craftin projects with your kids. I'm with you - I always start off all excited, then quickly get overwhelemd and concerned about everybody's safety and then let the project produce whatever it nets...cuz the kiddos certainly do enjoy it. Your chocolate turned out like a finished product - VERY impressed!

Bigger house? woot to the hoot - sounds like an *invitation* to me - wink, wink, hint, hint! lol

We'll be keeping our prayers for ya on that one!

Have a fantastic weekend - we are preparing for a blizzard!! Okay a foot of snow - but when you're south of the Mason-Dixie line, that might as well be a State of Emergency!

1. I looooove my pillow, too.

2. I'm sorry you're having such a tough week. Hang in there!!! Hopefully the kidlets will be super nice to you this weekend.

3. GOOD LUCK with the house!! Sending good thoughts your way!

Good Luck with the house, I'll keep good thoughts for you. There is nothing like finding the perfect house to make a home in. Keep your chin up the weekend's here. Let hubby watch the kids for a couple of hours tomorrow, get your pillow, and go take a nice long nap.

Blessings!

Can I have a chocolate lollipop? I need one of those. It's been one of "those" days.

That is a wonderful meme. It is good to focus on the positives in life. You have had a rough week, but those are some great things.

Those lollipops look delicious. I think I will try making some with my daughter.

Life with two sets of twins sounds like fun. I laughed as I read all the posts on this page. I'm definitely adding you to my blog list.

Are you sure the lizard was dead? I used to have a cat that brought lizards in the cat door and let them free in the house. I found this out when I was sitting in our recliner reading and one crawled on me ... I turned the recliner over and found 6 lizards ... not to freak you out or anything :)

I'm going to try to join in the Friday thing ... it's a great way to end the week. I have a little trouble doing the link up thing ... I'm still blog illiterate.

Sending good thoughts your way for the house...

Wow! I just found your blog and am speechless. I just spent the last hour reading from your first post up and it brought back so many emotions. My experience (at least the twin pregnancy/NICU part) was quite similar to yours. The way you described things are exactly what I would have said. I only have one set (they are almost 5 1/2 months now, born at 34 weeks 2 days). Just the word Nifedipine gives me nightmares. I am so excited that I found your blog and look forward to following it. Thank you for sharing your experiences!

I have had the same pillow for about 15 years and I don't know what I'll do when it's done. I love it so much!

And I made lasagna last week, too! Do you make your own red sauce (I bet you do--that's one thing I've never attempted)? I make mine with ground turkey, cottage cheese, mozz cheese, and lots of the jarred tomato sauce. I suck. But hey, it's easy, the kids love it, and it always lasts for 2 nights of dinner, so it's WIN in my book.

ZenMom said...

I absolutely LOVE my pillow. It looks a lot more worn than yours but I can't sleep without it.

Great meme. I'm going to have to get on board next time. Hope your weekend went well.

HI I found your blog from my life as a mom over 40. I had 3 kids in under a year. My twins were born when my son was 10 1/2 months. I can't imagine having 2 sets of twins! Any advice? My twins just turned 1 and my older son will be 2 March 8th. http://thiscrazylife-amy.blogspot.com
