After doing some research online and knowing specifically what I wanted in a camera, I purchased the Nikon Coolpix S8000.
Now, let me just say, that I have no talent when it comes to photography. I could read the manual ten times and still have no clue what to do.
The most important features, to me, are being able to catch action shots without the kids looking blurry and I wanted to be able to shoot a picture from a distance but still capture the important details.
This camera does all that….and more.
We took the kids to the park last Sunday and I brought along the camera to take some shots.
When we got home and I had a chance to look at the pictures on my laptop, I gushed to Tim about how amazingly clear, vibrant and detailed the pictures were.
He said, “Geez, sweetie, I’m glad you like the camera but you’re practically having an orgasm over it. It can’t be THAT great.”
“Jealous much?” was all I could manage to say.

I'm jealous! My Sony Cybershot point-and-shoot is dying on me (zoom dead, can't access flash, can't access macro....) and I desperately want a new one. Hmmm... I'd been thinking about getting a Canon, but now you have me thinking Nikon, too.
Just like a pro! good for you for taking charge and choosing what you wanted. I think we leave too many important decisions up to our husband Lol!

Great pics, Helene! I've got a Nikon Coolpix S620 which I love. And I'm saving up for a Nikon D90 because I feel lost without a DSLR.
those are wonderful pics. Don't worry I gush the same way each and everytime I venture out with the purpose of taking pics. And I have had my camera for over a year now! Men just dont get it! Ha jk

Great photos! Looks like you made a great purchase! My camera got broken by my daughter and I ended up purchasing one myself after 4 months. Mine takes great photos outdoors, but not so great indoors, which isn't good for my food blog! I'm trying to save up for another one soon!

Those are so crisp and clear! We had a wonderful camera like that once and then it got pepto-bismal spilled all over it. I've been so bummed about it since.
I have always been a fan of coolpix but my boyfriend got me a Kodak for Christmas. I still love him though...

Maybe I should have my twins break my camera so I can get a new one ; ). I have a Sony Cybershot and while it does video pretty well the pictures aren't that great (mostly due to user technical issues - oops).

I can't believe the clarity of those pics are from a point and shoot Coolpix! That's amazing! Although you do have pretty photogenic subjects there, so it's probably hard to take a bad picture ;) I LOVE the one of Bella hugging the post with her toothless grin, you should frame it! And the one of Cole with the flower, Landon (I think?) laying in the grass, and Garrett (?) in the sunglasses. Frame worthy, for sure ;)

There's something about having kids that makes you want to get a great camera. Which gives you great pictures of the kids. Which makes you want to take more great pictures of the kids. Which makes them cranky, but which confirms that you really needed that great camera. :)

I have a Sony Cybershot that is auto everything and I thought it was great because it was 12.1 mega pixels. But my hubby just bought a Nikon something ... now I'm wondering if I should "borrow" it :))
