It’s not what you think, I swear…

I know some of you may look at the following pictures and think, “Poor Tim!! He just doesn’t know when to back off”…

DSCN1146

DSCN1149

As often as I’ve fantasized about slamming a frying pan against his head, I can’t claim this damage, people.

Apparently, Tim’s idea of playing keeper in soccer is to catch the ball…flying towards him at 60 mph…with his face.

Don’t you just love his expression in the first picture? I had just asked him, “Holy crap, did it hurt?”

He answered, “Uh, yeah…it hurt pretty bad.”

But you know me… I always have to one-up him.

Taunting him, I responded, “Yeah, but probably not as bad as the recovery from two c-sections, in which a doctor sliced your abdomen open with a razor-sharp scalpel and ripped two human beings from your belly both times…

…and every time you sneezed, laughed or coughed, it felt like your intestines were going to burst through the incision site. I’ll tell you, though, you’d never take being able to get up out of bed easily for granted again after having had a c-section”.

Tim rolled his eyes…. well, his one good eye, anyway.

Then I said, “I hope you don’t mind but I absolutely HAVE to put a picture of you on my blog…you know, for memory’s sake and all”.

He continued eating his dinner and answered, “But of course…the blog. How could you not?”

Have I mentioned how much I love my sweet, understanding husband…willing to put himself out there in all his black-and-blue glory just for your entertainment?!

Ouch! Poor guy ... hope he got the proper consolation prize ;)

I was hit in the face the same way durng a soccer game ... the worst part came about a day and a half later when I could barely move my head because all the muscles in my neck were tweeked from trying to avoid the impact. Hopefully, Tim won't have that problem.

My only suggestion is that he make up a really good story to go along with the eye ...

His face in that first picture says it all...about the eye, about the blog, about everything. Hope he heals quickly so you can stop holding the c-section over him (who am I kidding? That's never going to happen)!!

Not being one to laugh at his misery, but I nearly chocked on my coffee this morning from stifling my laughter.

I soooo would have done the same thing! (Wait, wait, honey -- can you make it bleed again so I can capture this moment on film -- for memory's sake..you know....)

Seriously though - glad he's ok and I hope he feels better soon!

Poor guy! I think he probably knew before you told him that you were going to use it on the blog lol.
Hope he feels better soon.

He looks THRILLED to be providing so many women with such FANTASTIC entertainment!!

THANK YOU, Tim!!

What I wanna know is......is he gonna make up a better story or will he be going out into the world saying that he just didn't get hit hands up fast enough?

Poor Tim - that hadda hurt! Thanks Helene for thinking of us and not depriving us!

And that is why my blog is called "How could you not?!" Because sometimes, you just HAVE TO.

OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!

That looks so painful.

I'm a big baby about my face, not so much about my body so I'd say his wins :)

Then again, I recovered very quickly from my laparotomies and my C-section.

Yikes! That looks like it hurts....just a little! Poor guy!

I laughed my behind off about how sympathetic you were to his pain.

My mom is a handy lady, always crawling in and out of stuff that most women wouldn't go near.

She's also a klutz, so she often shows the scars of said movement.

My dad almost got arrested for beating her at a public park. Two off-duty policemen happened to set up camp next door, and thought mom's protests were just "battered woman syndrome."

(Which is pretty funny, if you know my mom.)

You're funny. Poor Tim. He looks like my kids now! And you're right, those c-section recoveries are BRUTAL! At least my first one was!

Hilarious.

Poor Tim...that'll teach him trying to catch a goal with his face! LOL

Feel your c-section pain and dreading #3...trying not to think about it too much!

If TIm is anything like my guy, he let you take pictures for your blog so that your readers could give him sympathy. I'm sure it would feel much better if he had 1152 people tell him "awe. Poor snookums!"
It does look pretty sore. I was stung in the eye last year. I totally get it.

Ouch! No on ever picked me to be on their team in gym class, because I always ducked out of the way. I wouldn't let the ball come near me! LOL!

Poor Tim :-). This is my first visit to your blog. I had intended only to say hello and then move on. I, instead, started reading your earlier posts and stayed far longer than I had intended. This is a really nice spot to visit. I'll be back as often as I can. I hope you are having a great recipe. Blessings...Mary

Are you sure you had nothing to do it like when he was lounging on the sofa and you asking him for HELP? I am kidding. Poor Tim. Hope he heals soon.

That does not look like fun at all. But at least he has a wife who can find the humor for him in the situation. Lucky guy!

For letting you put this picture on your blog? He's definitely a keeper!

What a guy! It does look painful but I agree nothing like a c-section. Although, I do have to say I've never had one but I did have laproscopic surgery and those three little incisions made my insides feel like they were sliced to pieces. When I came out of surgery one of the first things I said was, "I feel so bad for women who have c-sections!" So that you had two definitely makes you a trooper.

Hope his eye heals quickly!

First, I signed up and voted.

Even though they are going to send me a ton of emails because I just couldn't resist getting info on Dora's World Adventures.

Tim is a good sport. But you totally win in the pain dept. His owiee is nothing.

My dad tripped and fell yesterday and hit his head and scraped the skin off of his arm and he said he would do a "reinactment" for a vlog!

I am not doing that, but loved that he just knows it is going to come up sooner or later in a post.

Good sport to let you post the pics. I guess he took the phrase "keep your eye on the ball" literally...LOL

Priceless.

I have to say I had zero sympathy for my husband when he broke his clavicle last fall playing football with the guys. I reminded him that not only had I had twins via c-section, but that I was NOT a doctor choosing to jeopardize my entire career for a few hours of ball fumbling.

;-)

I had 3 c-sections! I win! ha ha ha
Now you can hit him in that eye and nobody will know........

Hell Yeah. Tim is the MAN. I love that dude. You are lucky to have him. He is a bad ass. What a stud. You better tell him this shit. I no longer care about your garden and your wine and your writing. lol I care about the bad ass athlete in your home that is stopping anything that comes his way. Tell him I said Tony Meola has nothing in him

From Tims biggest fan,

I loved this post! The story was cute as it was.... but it was even more priceless with the comments behind it!

I figure that if the children are alive when my husband gets home at the end of the day, I've done my job.
