Well, this is definitely one advantage of having two sets of twins....

Four kids.  Two birthdays.  Need I say more?

I mean, really.  Is that not a major advantage of having two sets of twins or what?!

And as if that's not awesome enough, one set of twins has a birthday in March and the other set is in October.   What that means is that I don't have to plan birthday party after birthday party...there's a nice break in between.

Garrett and Landon will be turning 5 this Saturday.  I'm having heart palpitations just thinking about the fact that my babies are half a decade old already.  When did that happen?

So....I'll be up to my neck this week in buttercream and fondant as I attempt my next culinary creation.

A Bakugan cake.  With a massive dragon sitting on top.

Yes, my kids have upped the bar....again.

Although, I think this time they surely have overestimated my cake decorating skills.

They keep saying, "Come on, Mommy.  You can do it.  You make awesome cakes."

But we shall see....

I may be MIA this week, needless to say.

You know, cake baking and decorating during the day while also trying to keep the kids...well, alive.  And then sipping some delicious wine after they're in bed, as my reward.

I'll definitely share pics once the creation from hell is complete.

Until then, wish me luck.  Lots and lots of luck.

I'm afraid I'll need it this time.

To answer your question "When did thta happen" - roughly five years and nine months ago is my guess.

Good luck with cakes, dragons, and wine!

I definitely agree it's a benefit having said that mine are February and April so a little close together and February is quite frankly too near Christmas. I also wonder how we are going to manage joint birthdays for our fraternal boy/girl in the future! Have a great 5th birthday and look forward to the pictures of the cake - have to take my hat off to you for that one x

Your awesome!! I can't wait to see your design, I know you will do great. I've seen your cakes before and I am totally impressed. And yes I can say 1 b-day party is a major perk for having twins. I just wonder if they will always be happy having 1 party or if one day they will get "smart" and want one each of their own?

You'll do just fine! Just think of all of the memories your kids will have of the special creations Mom made for their day!

I can't believe they'll be 5!

Why do we torment ourselves with the cake making? Why? When Costco makes kick ass sheet cakes!
I won't lie though. I do make my sons cakes. Sucked. In. Every. Time.

Wishing you lots of luck on thus windy day! ;) Those kids are so lucky!!!

This is why I'm happy (now) that the girls share their birthday and are close enough and the sane sex to have one big party, once a year.

Happy birthday to Garrett and Landon!!!!

Oh, Helene! You can TOTALLY do this!

Happy Birthday to Garrett and Landon. They are growing up SO fast!

I used the 2 for 1 birthday excuse as a way to justify an extra-big first birthday party for the babies to my grumpy husband! (The extravagance had nothing to do with possibly trying to overcompensate for the years I spent childless or my feelings of mommy ineptitude! Of course, not!)

I have no doubt you can make whatever cake your kids can dream up! Can't wait to see it!

I have complete confidence in you that you will make a great cake! Are you just doing one? (You know, is that all? Just one completely pain-staking magnificent cake?)

Happy Birthday to your little boys! We are living to tell about it, aren't we?

Good luck with that cake. I'm a terrible baker all birthday cakes in this house come from a bakery.

You rock, Helene! I've thrown in the towel--this year, my daughter got ice cream cupcakes from Coldstone Creamery for her birthday party.

I don't know how you did those dragons on the cake but it turned out great. You're awesome!

I figure that if the children are alive when my husband gets home at the end of the day, I've done my job.
